About InnovatED

Innovated is a free, educational resource aimed at helping Australian teachers uncover their student's own creativity and imagination. It reveals the ideas that shape the world we live in and emphasises the value of creativity and the very real opportunities it generates.

By linking the concepts of innovation and intellectual property to the KLAs for years 5-9, InnovatED opens up a world of ideas for both teachers and students to explore.

Created by teachers for teachers, InnovatED is designed to integrate with the Australian curriculum and provides a flexible, easy to use resource. A resource that will help to reduce workloads and enhance the quality and the outcomes of the time that teachers and students spend in the classroom.

The goal of the innovated project is to stimulate innovation in Australia; to explore the creation and development of Intellectual Property and to empower young Australians through their own ideas. The project incorporates a number of interactive elements -

  • The website for teachers - providing lesson plans, activities, resources and links.
  • Ippy's Big Idea - providing great games and activities to help students explore their creativity and imagination as they discover the world of big ideas. Find out more about Ippy's Big Idea?
  • The Big Ideas Network - is a fantastic resource that can help you explore the world of ideas and innovation. Allowing students to see what makes ideas valuable and why it is important to protect them. Find out more about Big Ideas Network?
  • The Big Ideas CD Rom - a free resource taking your students on an exciting journey; hunting for ideas, solving puzzles, and interacting with crazy characters.

InnovatED is funded by IP Australia - the federal government agency responsible for patents, trade marks, designs and plant breeder’s rights. For more detailed information about intellectual property, go to related links to find other sites supported by IP Australia.
